This page provides important information regarding policies, procedures, supervision expectations, facility access, and behavioral standards for youth using YMCA facilities and programs. These guidelines help us create an environment that reflects the YMCA's core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility while ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
Our Youth in the YMCA guidelines are designed to support the well-being of all members while ensuring that children and teens have opportunities to build healthy relationships, develop character, and engage in meaningful activities.
- Minimum age to be left in facility without an adult is 11 years. Be aware. Y staff complete regular building rounds, but youth are not continuously supervised.
- To use the weight room or cardio center without an adult, youth must be 13 years of age. 12 year olds can use as long as they are working out with a parent. Noone under the age of 12 is allowed in the weight room or cardio center.
- Closed toed shoes are required in the weight room. No slides.
- Equipment is available to rent. Youth must leave an item of collateral.
- Be aware of the facility closing time. Staff is not allowed to leave children unattended at closing. Repititive instances of youth being left may result in loss of Y access.
- Locker rooms are for youth 16 years and older. Private changing areas are available for their use.
- All youth under 16 are required to pass a swim test to use the deep end of the pool. (once per year)
- Hot tub is for use by those 17 years and older only. No exceptions.
- The Y will not sell energy drinks to anyone under the age of 18.
